As the name suggests the story of Dr. Stone is set when every living being on the planet (excluding some species of animals) were turned to stone because of a mysterious green light.
Main storyline (little spoilers)
It's 5738 A.D in April, 3,700 years after the appearance of that mysterious green light the main protagonist of the story, an 18 year old genius, Senku Ishigami wakes up and realises that all of humanity has been turned to stone and starts to find the cause and cure of the green light and starts his journey of de-petrifying all of human beings through the power of science.
After his hard work he discovers the formula for a special fluid called the "Revival Fluid" that can be used to break one's long slumber inside stone,he uses it to de-petrify his best friend Taiju Oki, Yuzuriha Ogawa and a famous and very powerful martial artist Tsukasa Shishio often called "The strongest high-school primate".
Tsukasa's and Senku's Ideals clashes as soon as he learns that senku wants to revive every single person in this world and explains why the old world (3,700 years ago) must not be revived, Tsukasa's thinks that only the strong and younger people must be revived and not the older generations who will try to bring back the old world of war and destruction in this peaceful stone world.
Dr. Stone for me is a perfect mix of comedy, amazing story-line and knowledge too, as it teaches a lot of cool scientific stuff, sometimes it gets tense and sometine it's funny as hell, I would definitely recomment watching Dr. Stone in either sub or dub (your choice), or read manga if you are an impatient one.
